Client Goal: This client was building a custom home and wanted to make sure at least some of his power came from a renewable source. Although this PV system was relatively small compared to the 5000 square foot home, it does make quite a large impact on their electric bill.
Design Considerations: The solar array was to be located on a garage roof right behind a stovepipe. Our customer also wanted to easily incorporate a battery bank for backup power if the grid ever becomes unreliable. To plan further, we prewired the other south facing roofs for easy future expansion.
Final Outcome: Although this site had known shading issues from the start, the micro inverter system has made for extremely good production. In fact, production has hardly been effected and the family is enjoying the clean energy their home is producing.
High performance grid tied with battery backup solar electric system.
